Polar Vortex

This has been some super cold weather last few days.  I have been totally staying inside and not going anywhere.  This morning with wind chill it feels like -42.  I have not been doing much photography but I feel this time has given me some time to edit and really consider where I am going to go creatively in 2019.  I am really going to try and write more as well.  This blog is a lot of fun and for personal growth as a writer I should really give it a shot.  I never really did feel like writing was my jam which is why I was more into creating images with sketches and now with a camera.  I prefer to allow my images to speak for themselves rather than try and write.

I also want to get back onto working on my YouTube channel.  I think it would be fun to show more video work with my cameras.  Possibly mix in some video from my gaming and blend it in with photography work.  Throw in some photography tutorials along the way.  YouTube has been something I have ignored for a long time and I really think it could be a fun way to expand on being creative with photography.

I hope if you're somewhere caught in this polar vortex you're staying warm.  Enjoy the day and look for ways to be creative in your own life.  Without creativity this world is a super dull and boring place to be living in.

This is a great video by John Spencer

~ 77/365 Waiting for Spring ~

Waiting for spring to come, pretty soon there will be more melting snow and pictures of puddles.  For now all Albertans wait patiently and some impatiently for winter to end and spring and summer to arrive. -Randy

Just a quiet and lazy day.  I was wicked tired from my 2 days of convention in Edmonton.  It was good to rest up.

~ 20/365 Romancing the Cold ~

49ers win today!!!!  They get to play in the Super Bowl!!!  Looks like Ravens and 9ers!!!  I love it.  Today's photo is of Kelsey and Kyle, a couple that drove out to Vegreville today for a couple portrait session.  The good news is they are a great looking couple in love, the bad news, it was -25 today.  We gutted it out and it was a successful shoot and I am thrilled to show them off as my photo of the day.  -Randy

~ 12/365 Tired ~

Today I am feeling completely tired and exhausted.  Lots of naps and cuddles of cats.  Went out in the cold to snap this image.  Not really much to say, just really happy with life.  Love the new camera and the experiences that photography brings me to capture beautiful images.  Love waking up every day looking for beauty.  -Randy

COLD!!! Winter has let me down.

So far winter has not given me any satisfaction.  It started with the LACK of snow.  Looking outside and seeing the world blanketed in the beauty of white is one of my favorite things about winter.  We started with warm weather and no snow, the world was brown and dirty looking.  LOTS of ice everywhere to slip and fall on.  Then shortly after going back to work in 2012 the temperature decides to drop like crazy to -40ish and we still have a dusting of snow out there.  Makes me sad.  Hopefully the snow will come.  If it is going to be this cold at least give us snow winter!!!

For those of you COLD, here are some HOT pictures from my 2012 shoot with the lovely Tatiana!!  She brings the heat.

~ Day 6/365 Self Portrait on a Cold -36C Morning ~

Woke up on a COLD morning. Snapped this shot quickly with my 50mm, 1.8 on 1000ISO, using light from a small ikea desk lamp and computer monitor. It was so dark and cold out, just feels like a good shot for this 6/365 image. Well, posting it and off to coach basketball.....
