This is Magnum, he is a well trained dog that was part of a family photo session I shot tonight.  He found this ball while exploring the area we were in.  I have 3 cats but definitely wanted a dog after meeting this dude. :) -Randy

~ 103/365 Caturday!!! ~

103/365
Last night a rare moment, both girl's cuddling on Jenn's lap.  Scully with Nahla laying nice and close.  These two normally do not want to be anywhere close to each other, so had to be my shot of the day. -Randy

Busy day, so I figured it was CAT time.  Shot this "little" dude on my way out the door. :) Didn't post it on the day I shot it, but still shot it on day 81!!! :)  Just means that day 82 gets 2 365 shots posted!!! :)  Well, loving my spring break and having some time to relax. :) -Randy

Today was a good Caturday, Nahla got LOTS of cuddles and love today, so seems fitting to make her the 365 picture of the day.

~ 16/365 I'm a Scientist ~

Today was a day I tried to include my cats, 2 of them kind of cooperated, the other bloodied me up and never made it in the shot....lol.  This tshirt is a present from the wife, I always joked with her in any argument that because I taught grade 7 science that I was a scientist.  She laughs at me and found this tshirt at Old Navy for me.  I love it, hehhee, had to make it a 365.  Not happy with the final edit of this, really sloppy photoshop.  :)  Composite shots are NOT my specialty.....but they are still fun.

~ 4/365 Mr Finny ~

Last time I did a 365 I started out with a cat picture.  This year started with a sunrise and then 2 portraits, I knew sooner or later a cat would end up in my 365.  Finny is my little dude and follows me every where I go in the house.  When I saw him laying down on this blanket by the front window, I knew what my picture was going to be today.  Last Friday for me before going back to work in 2013.  Enjoy the weekend.

~ For Tia ~

I worked with an AWESOME E.A. named Tia and this is her Grandson and dog. :) She brought them to my studio for some photos. It was a LOT of fun! :)
She has recently sold her farm and is moving to BC to be with her daughter and Grandson. Congrats Tia!!!

~ Reggie the Dog ~

My friend Tia has a little dog named Reggie. She was showing me this picture of him and I had to share it. She kind of loves this dog and has done what the "Dog Whisperer" dude has said to never do....which is humanize your dog. It's easy to humanize pets, Jenn and I do that with our cats. We forget they have small brains and instincts and like to think of them as advanced life forms that can talk to us. :) Of course the talking is just for our amusement and Jenn and I are constantly making up things our pets would say and trying hard to do them in voices we feel would be appropriate for our cats.

I edited the picture up for Tia and she also told me I should blog this and hopefully someone will want me to photograph their pets for them. SHAMELESS PLUG: Randy Pond Photography will shoot your pet....hehehhe.....okay, that sounds bad. I will however take awesome photographs of your pets and you if you like. Contact me today and the first person to contact me for pet photos gets a free artistic edit of their pet.

~ Wednesday ~

Feb. is almost done, YAY, getting so close to spring, I can't wait to get outside more with my camera. I am going to hit that vagabond II like a madman this year. I got it kind of late in the year last year and did not really get much play in with it. I think my challenge with it will be learning to meter it and using natural light mixed with strobe. I did okay learning to use my 430ex but that helped because it was in sync with my 40d, the alien bee's are going to be under moi control. So it'll be up to me to get it "right".....but that is the fun of photography. You get those "happy" surprises sometimes and it just turns out right.

I think my goals this summer season are going to be:

  • more nature
  • more natural light and strobe shots
  • hopefully more male models (still don't have enough in my portfolio)
  • more couples (wanna try some new ideas of shooting couples for my port)
  • more babies, heheheh (practice for when I have one and for my port)
  • more kids
  • more pets/animals (maybe) hehehe, if I can get away from shooting my kittens
  • Hmmmm, that's a long list, I prob will never get through :P
