~ LONG WEEKEND!!! ~

I love long weekends. Have tomorrow off, and Monday off!!! I hope Jenn and I can go see the new Star Trek! I keep hearing how awesome it is, so hopefully it lives up to the hype. Here are some edits from my recent 2009 shoot with the amazing Nikki! :)

Hope everyone has a safe and fun long weekend. :)

Well, I had a shoot planned with Mac tonight. It didn't work, I had 2 other models that couldn't make it and Mac thought the weather would be worse. So I went ahead and did a fun little shoot with the amazing Paxton! :) She is awesome and was very patient as I fought with my stubborn alienbees. I had fun and figured some stuff out. :)

Here is an edit, 1 ab400 and a vagabond, bare flash:

Here is an edit, 1st shot of our shoot, 1 alienbee400 on a vagabond, just a bare flash head....I really like how it turned out:

Here is an edit, all natural light, no bees:

~ FUN DAY ~

So, today was a whhhhicked Monday. I got to hang with a lot of my friends. It started with Lindsey and I getting to drive to Edmonton together, then had supper at a whhhhicked Chinese food place with my friend Sonny. THEN.......got to hang with my new photography friend Mac. He has a 5D, some awesome lenses and is just a REALLY good photographer dude. I called every model I knew begging for a shoot.....and who came through? :) Nikki!!! :) I have shot with her a few times and she was a trooper. Came short notice and even though we had limited lighting, we banged out some shots. I got to use my bees and my vagabond (drool).

It was a lot of fun, good to see how Mac works too, he has some sweet toys and tricks.....looking forward to more shoots. Might have another tomorrow weather providing. :)
Anyway off to bed, here is a teaser from our shoot with Nikki!

~ Wednesday ~

Feb. is almost done, YAY, getting so close to spring, I can't wait to get outside more with my camera. I am going to hit that vagabond II like a madman this year. I got it kind of late in the year last year and did not really get much play in with it. I think my challenge with it will be learning to meter it and using natural light mixed with strobe. I did okay learning to use my 430ex but that helped because it was in sync with my 40d, the alien bee's are going to be under moi control. So it'll be up to me to get it "right".....but that is the fun of photography. You get those "happy" surprises sometimes and it just turns out right.

I think my goals this summer season are going to be:

• more nature
• more natural light and strobe shots
• hopefully more male models (still don't have enough in my portfolio)
• more couples (wanna try some new ideas of shooting couples for my port)
• more babies, heheheh (practice for when I have one and for my port)
• more kids
• more pets/animals (maybe) hehehe, if I can get away from shooting my kittens
• Hmmmm, that's a long list, I prob will never get through :P

~ Older Shots ~

Sometimes, (okay a LOT of times) I like to go back and edit from previous shoots. It is what makes me happy, I guess it's my form of artistic expression and a lot cleaner then getting out the acrylic paints and making a mess. Here is a shot of Shantelle I took awhile back. I used my 430ex and used an off camera bracket for this shot. It was a LOT of fun, windy and a bit cold and Shantelle just always looks great....so I have tons of worthy images to edit from our shoots. Hopefully we can do some updated shots soon. I recently heard from her and she is interested in doing more work. I hope to do more outdoor and on location work with her. I think it'd be awesome to go out with the vagabond and go crazy. :)

VAGABOND II arrived!!!!! Stay Tuned

This isn't my photo, but a picture of the vagabond II that arrived today. I almost hugged the UPS lady hehehe. Jenn and I also decided to get a g9 to replace the broken g7. She needs a camera for her trip home. Anyway, off to the airport. Will post some vagabond pics asap. :)
