~ Friends ~

I got to do some photos with two friends.  Using mostly the sigma 35 art and a bit of the 85 1.4 rokinon lens we went to Festival Place in Sherwood Park and walked around taking pictures.  It was a last minute photo shoot but sometimes those are the best kind. :)  Have a great Tuesday!!! :)

Went to Edmonton today, on the way I did a couples shoot of a young couple in Sherwood Park and then stopped in to visit the big name Edmonton photographer, Candace Vanstryland.  Got a few shots of her before it went all dark in the land of the fading sunlight. -Randy

It has been YEARS since I 1st shot with Dani, was nice to connect on a shoot again.  Last time was a group shoot, this was our first time shooting 1-1.  She is a super cool model that just seems at home in front of a camera.....almost like she's modeled a few times before, hee hee.  :)  Thanks to her for a fun shoot. -Randy

This has to be one of the coolest poses I have ever seen a model pull off. :)  Huge props to Leanne for this shot.  I suggested she try and get a leg up on the wall and she went all spidey model and just free styled it.  :)  Really had a fun day, shooting with 2 models....just too bad Sherwood Park Toyota gave me some terrible customer service today.  Other than that today rocked! -Randy

I couldn't ask for a better last shoot before going "over the hill" and turning the big 40!!!  These lovely models came out on a cloudy then sunny then cloudy then sunny day in Edmonton!!!!  Thanks to them all, Nikki and Cheryl I've known a LONG time, makes me feel even older when I think about it.  :)  It's been a great weekend.  Happy to have had today to be outside shooting. -Randy

Got to shoot two friends that are workout partners today.  I had shot with Patricia Walroth before and this was Katie's first shoot.  It was a lot of fun, I wish them all the best this year in Calgary as they go to a Fitness Competition.  :) -Randy

~ Calgary Model Shoot ~

I was invited by my friend and fellow photographer Michael Legge to shoot a model that came up to Edmonton with a group of other Calgary models.  I was able to get some sweet pictures of Leigha Marie using an alienbee 800.  I did not use any modifiers, just shot with a bare strobe, powered by the incredible bulk of the vagabond II.  It was a lot of fun and she is a beautiful model.  Hope to post some of the natural light shots soon.  Happy Tuesday.

~ New Edits, CS6 ~

So the new photoshop drops May 7th and I made my pre-order on mine yesterday.  I have been using the beta and loving it.  There are some really cool new features which I am in love with.  The new blur filters are great, the tilt shift one is by far my fave.  They created the look to mesh better with lightroom, blacks and greys, it just looks great.  Colour images pop out awesome when I am working on them.  It also will allow me to edit video, although I have not tried that yet.  I used my teacher cred to get the educational discount....so I am excited to use this program to create this summer.

Quiet Weekend

Not much going on, spent a relaxing weekend at home with the wife....resting was the theme of our 10 year Anniversary.  Did not do much so not going to write much today.  I have a few idea for blogs this week, hopefully they will be more interesting. :)  Just going to post 2 new edits and wish everyone a great week!!!

~ Summer Update 2011 ~

Well, so far this summer has been a LOT of fun as far as photography goes. I have shot a lot of pictures and hope to take a ton more before August ends. I shot a lot with my buddy Mac Sokulski of Miks Media and RPM Photography. We shot some engagement sessions and a family reunion. I have done some personal work lately too, I will post some in this blog post.

I have done the usual afternoon naps with cat cuddling included. Lots of late night games of COD Black Ops with my buddy Sonny on xbox live. I have just enjoyed the summer, but the main rant is the horrid swarms of skeeters. They are the worst ever, little tiny photo bombers that look like sensor dust on most of my shots.

I have loved the chance to shoot portraits of a few very talented photographers. Candace Vanstryland and Olivia Kovios. Hoping to add Samantha Scharf to the mix soon, as we have talked about shooting before she leaves for BC in a few weeks. I enjoy shooting other photographers. It's fun to show that there are some very nice looking people behind the lens of a camera. I am happy to showcase their beauty in front of a camera and give them props for their talents behind the lens.

Anyway, hope to keep my blog updated throughout the summer. Need to do lots of shooting and hope to keep sharing it with everyone.
